Who knew?
Author: Teresa, Category: Uncategorized
According to the PB&J Campaign, the classic lunchbox staple will save the equivalent of 2.5 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions when it’s chosen instead of an average animal-based lunch like a hamburger, a tuna sandwich, grilled cheese, or chicken nuggets.
Somehow I don’t think those gourmet PB&J restaurants qualify, like the one I saw at DTW (and why would anyone buy a PB&J, anyway?). But it’s an easy way to go green, and save some green in the process. ![]()

New mall opens
Author: Teresa, Category: Uncategorized
I can’t wait to check out the new Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township. A closer alternative to Somerset for east side residents, the new mall boasts a Parisian, Apple, Brooks Brothers, and Brighton Collectibles - a high-end women’s accessories store.
The Free Press reports that the mall created 1,500 construction jobs and 2,000 permanent retail jobs.
It’s located on Hall Road, between Romeo Plank and Garfield.

Flu shots available
Author: Teresa, Category: Uncategorized
The City of Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion will offer flu shots at various locations in Detroit from now through December 6. Local residents, particularly those considered high priority for getting flu shots, are urged to get their vaccinations as soon as possible. The cost for the vaccine is $10 for those who do not have Medicaid or Medicare (Part B).
The best way to prevent the flu is getting a flu vaccination each year. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people at high risk for serious flu complications include:
- Children from six months to age five
- Pregnant women
- Individuals ages 50 and older
- Individuals of any age with chronic medical conditions, such as asthma and diabetes
- Individuals who live with or care for persons at high risk
People with severe allergic reactions to eggs, thimerosal, or have a history of Gullian Barre Syndrome, should not get the flu vaccine. In addition, individuals with a fever, respiratory illnesses, or with active infections should see their doctor prior to receiving this vaccine.
