Attention, shoppers!

Tomas B.

24 days til Christmas, and you know what that means: 23 more days to procrastinate. This month, I’ll address the holidays and how to get prepared with the new category “Countdown to Christmas”. While the word ‘Christmas’ provides a nice alliteration, these tips can be applied to any holiday. :)

Today’s lesson is: planning ahead.

I like to keep a gift closet (well, it’s really more like a drawer in my dresser) of generic gifts that can be pulled out in a pinch and given. They might not all be the most thoughtful gift - some in fact are “regifts,” but they are basic all-occasion gifts that are just as suitable for the babysitter as the paperboy or the neighbors. Some ideas include:

  • a scarf (bonus points if it’s hand knit!)
  • books
  • holiday CDs
  • bottles of wine
  • candles
  • lotions or creams
  • gift cards (warning: don’t hold on to these too long or the start to lose value, due to “interest” being deducted from the balance for lack of use)
