Go Blue!

The Michigan Wolverines kick off their 128th season at noon today vs. Appalachian State at Michigan Stadium. The game will be televised by the Big Ten Network, DirecTV channel 220.

Visitors to the Big House will find some new enhancements to the stadium, including some new features and policies in and around Michigan Stadium:

EARADIO

Available at Michigan Stadium this fall, EARADIO® will bring spectators live Michigan Sports Network broadcasts of every regular-season Michigan football game this year, home and away. Developed in the United Kingdom, the EARADIO allows fans in the stadium to hear the live play-by-play without the time delay of the “regular” radio broadcast.

The EARADIO is a dual-mode radio that fits comfortably on the ear, and it comes with a lanyard for hands-free use. The radio antenna is threaded through the lanyard for optimum reception. The radio is available for $20 from sales associates stationed around the stadium.

It also will allow fans to listen to the Michigan Sports Network broadcast at away games, where a traditional radio signal would be unavailable. After games, the EARADIO can be switched to FM scan radio mode to receive FM stations in the area. More information on the product is available at EARADIO’s site.
Scoreboard Improvements

Upgrades to the electronic scoreboards in Michigan Stadium have converted the incandescent bulb components to light-emitting diode (LED) technology, providing a more reliable and clear display. In addition, new electronic LED message boards at the bottom of the scoreboards have replaced the tri-panel boards capable of rotating only three fixed messages.

The new message boards will allow display of additional statistics, out-of-town scores, names of players who made key plays, and traditional crowd messages such as “Go Blue.” The current policy of no advertising in the stadium will be continued.
